Next, use consistent pressure as you run the knife sharpener down the blade. Do not apply too much pressure or you could damage the blade. Rather, use a gentle but firm pressure as you move from heel to tip.
Lastly, make sure to sharpen in both directions (up and down). Be sure to sharpen for several seconds on each side of the blade for best results.

Whichever model you have, be sure to read the instructions that come with it before using, as each model may have slightly different directions for use. In general, though, you’ll want to run the blade of your knife through the sharpener a few times, flipping it over and repeating on both sides until your knife is suitably sharpened.
1. First, hold the knife sharpener in your dominant hand.
2. Next, take your other hand and place it on the back of the blade, making sure that your fingers are not in the way of the blade.
3. Slowly move the blade towards the center of the sharpener while applying pressure.
4. Continue moving the blade back and forth until it is nice and sharp!
