Next, find an opening in the water that looks like a good spot to fish. cast your line into the water by slowly releasing the slack and pointing the rod at where you think the fish are. When you feel a bite, quickly pull back on the rod to set the hook and reel in your catch!
Next, twist the plug clockwise with your fingers while you hold tension on the line with your thumb and first finger. As you twist, the plug will wind its way up the line. When it gets close to where you are holding on to it, let go of both and grab it with your fingers. Then, reattach your lure or bait and cast out!
If you don’t have a plug follower, you can also use needle-nose pliers. Simply grip the fishing plug firmly and insert it into the lure’s housing as far as it will go. Then use the pliers to gently twist and turn the plug until it’s fully seated in the housing.
Then, use your right hand to hold onto the wire and pull it tight. Next, take your left hand and put it over top of the wire, and twist it in the opposite direction. This will help keep the wire from coming loose.
Finally, use your right hand to pinch the bottom of the plug and push it into place in the hole of your fishing lure.
For a soft body plug, you would pinch it in half just behind the head and insert your hook into one end, then re-join the halves around the hook.
There’s also a variety of specialty plugs that can be fished using different methods, so it’s best to consult your local tackle shop for specific instructions.
